According to Nordic mythology, Freya, goddess of fertility, is linked to the
central aspects of life: birth, death, fate and love.
She belonged to the Vaner family and came to Asgard as a hostage, together with her father Njord and her
twin brother Frej.
She was married to the god Od, who left her. In her grief, she wept tears of gold.
As a valkyrie, she brought chosen fallen warriors to Valhalla at Odin's command.
This Freya figure was found at Aska Östergötland - Sweden.
Vikings ca. 800 - 1.100 AD.
